About

When I was a teenager I borrowed some metal knitting needles off my friend Michelle and never gave them back. A boyfriend's mother then taught me to knit properly and helped me knit a whole sweater. I ended up in Boston studying English Literature and could often be found knitting snake scarves and beer cozies for my college friends.

When I found myself in London studying Shakespeare at the Globe and wandering around Bloomsbury clutching my Virginia Woolf, I met a graphic designer and musician who then became my husband. I wrote my masters thesis on knitting as represented in women's literature and worked in a gallery, and then a lovely knitting shop. I still work there and also teach, design, and write about knitting and textiles.
